Publisher Widget
The Palactix Publisher Widget is an embeddable social media scheduler you can drop into any website or web application. It lets your end users compose and schedule posts to their connected social accounts without ever leaving your product.
How It Works
Your website Palactix
───────────────── ──────────────────────────────
1. User clicks Publish
│
2. Your server generates ──► POST /widget/tokens (server-side call using widget credentials)
a short-lived init token Returns: { token, expires_at }
│
3. Loader opens the iframe ──► widgets.palactix.com/publisher
│ │
│ 4. Iframe exchanges init token
│ POST /widget/session/exchange
│ │
│◄──────────── postMessage ────┘
5. User composes + schedules post
│
6. Widget fires onClose / onPublish callback- Your server calls the Palactix API to generate a signed init token, scoped to a specific
widgetIdand end user. - Your page passes the token to the loader script.
- The loader injects a sandboxed iframe pointing to
widgets.palactix.com. - The iframe exchanges the short-lived init token for a widget session, then renders the publisher UI.
- Communication between your page and the iframe is done via
window.postMessage.
Security Model
| Concern | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Origin enforcement | allowed_origins configured per widget — the backend rejects token exchanges from unlisted origins |
| Token lifetime | Init tokens expire in 5 minutes (configurable 1–15 min) — replay window is minimal |
| Session isolation | Widget sessions are cache-backed, revoked on close, scoped to one (widget, user) pair |
| No credentials in the browser | Your widget_secret never leaves your server — only the short-lived init token travels to the client |
| iframe sandbox | allow-scripts allow-forms allow-popups only — no allow-same-origin |
Platforms Supported
The widget surfaces only the platforms you have active credentials for in your developer app. Configure which platforms each widget exposes in the Widgets section of your developer portal.
