Bring Your Own OAuth (BYO)
Palactix follows a Bring Your Own OAuth (BYO) model.
This means you use your own platform developer apps instead of relying on shared credentials.
What BYO OAuth Means
With Palactix:
- You create apps on each platform (Meta, LinkedIn, etc.)
- You provide your own
client_idandclient_secret - OAuth tokens are issued to your app, not Palactix
Why This Matters
Ownership
- You own your client connections
- Tokens belong to your infrastructure
- You can move away from Palactix anytime
Branding
- Users see your app name during OAuth
- Not a third-party tool
- Builds trust with clients
Isolation
- Your rate limits are not shared
- Your app reputation is independent
- Other users cannot affect your account
Traditional Model (Without BYO)
Most tools use shared OAuth apps:
- All users connect through the same app
- Tokens are controlled by the vendor
- Rate limits are shared
- High vendor lock-in
Palactix Model (BYO)
With Palactix:
- Each developer uses their own apps
- Tokens are stored securely per app
- Full control over credentials
- No shared dependency
How It Works in Palactix
- Create a developer app in Palactix
- Add platform credentials (client_id, client_secret)
- Generate access token
- Connect user accounts via OAuth
Example
During OAuth:
User sees:
"Continue with Your App Name"The user authorizes your app, not Palactix.
When to Use BYO OAuth
BYO OAuth is ideal if you:
- Build SaaS products for clients
- Manage multiple client accounts
- Need long-term ownership of data
- Want to avoid platform dependency
Summary
BYO OAuth ensures that:
- You own the relationship
- You control the credentials
- You are not locked into a vendor
Palactix provides the infrastructure, while you retain control.
